Hemp Protein Balls

Protein bars and balls can be found in almost all supermarkets and shops but they contain lots of nasties and loads of sugar! Protein is so important for our bodies, from healthy cell regeneration to weight loss and even aiding brain function!

Vegan protein is of course the most beneficial for us and the planet (water use, land use and labour) so why would you choose a dairy by product such as whey protein powder when hemp protein powder is 50% complete protein and a perfect balance of omega 3, 6 & 9. Any how, enough talking!

Our protein ball recipe is so simple - vegan, nut free, soy free & gluten free! These were a classic we sold on our markets stalls so we hope you enjoy!

You will need (makes approx 12 balls):

Balls:

100g pitted dates

100g dried cranberries

75g raw cacao powder

A few glugs of hemp seed oil

1 table spoon of maple syrup

Coating:

20g desiccated coconut

First start by blending all the dry ingredients and while whizzing, slowly add the hemp seed oil and maple syrup - this should produce a mixture that is easily moulded into balls (compressing works best) - if its still a little dry add another glug or two of hemp oil.

Next separate the mixture into 12 and compress into balls - you can then roll them in the dry mix of coconut and hemp seeds to give a yummy crunchy coating...

Anddddddd you're done! This really is the easiest recipe and your protein balls will keep for up to two weeks if kept in a tupperware or zip lock bag. You keep ambient, or in the fridge or freezer.

Big Love and tweet, insta or facebook us any pics of what you've made!
